Last night I went along to the launch of PIXI's new Spring/Summer PIXIGlow collaboration with Disney - specifically Tinkerbell with fellow beauty blogger and YouTuber (and best friend of 20 yrs!) Angel Armogida. Although I'd come across PIXI at Boots before, I never took the pale green packaging seriously (shallow? moi?!) and so I was pretty much new to the brand. I was surprised to learn that their little boutique just off Carnaby St (around the corner from fellow Swedish make up brand Make Up Store) has been there for 12 years.
PIXI is the brainchild of a former Swedish model Petra Strand whose aim is to provide women with easy to use, mulitpurpose, long wearing products.
The range launches in Boots today.
Despite having a few more years on the clock than I'm comfortable with, two words in the same sentence 'Disney' and 'Make Up' (is that three words?!) make me actually SQUEAL! Tinkerbell may not be my favourite Disney character, but until MAC launch a Disney Princess collection (Boo to the Venomous Villains!), Tink will do!
Angel and I
The centrepiece of the collection is this gorgeous Fairy Face Palette. I was quite surprised by how sheer all of the products were, but this is because it's aimed at making girls of all skin colours and types GLOW!
The rest of the range is gorgeous, the Magic Tink Tint is the pale pink pencil which changes colour to match your lips on contact - it basically turns a deeper berry shade.
The neon pink nail polish is so pretty, a bit loud so I'm saving it for my summer hols!
My two favourite products are the Catching Shadows Crayon for eyes - a bit like a NYX Jumbo Pencil and the Straight on Till Morning eyeliner - a gorgeous dark, shimmering olive.
Here are some items from the permanent range, where you will find the shadows more pigmented than the PIXIGlow collection.
I fell in love with the Succulent Lip Twins in Pink Peony and Coral Camellia, the top is a lip creme and the tube is a matching lip balm. I was very tempted by these, but all I'm after is the creme part in the lid, and there wasn't a whole lot of product in that part for £12, despite the gorgeous consistency and colours.
I met some really lovely bloggers and YouTubers last night, especially Livia (above with Angel and I) whose gorgeous blog was one of the first I ever followed! We had laugh, swapped blogging stories, gorged on Hummingbird Bakery cupcakes and ended up in TopShop checking out the new Sisters of the New Moon range. I also got talking to some other lovely girls, HellCandy, Zara and Wande so make sure to check out their blogs too!
I wasn't aware PIXI also produce skincare, they only sell it in their boutique but it looked like quite an extensive range, even if the packaging is very 'down home'.
Petra's sister also has her own make up range, POP which is a little more colourful.
Here's the new collection which I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into and will let you know how I get on, and if there is anything that is a must have.
Check out this for a magical skyline - maybe Tinkerbell sprinkled some of her fairy dust over Oxford Street's concrete jungle in honour of the event!
After losing my blogging mojo there for a few months after some sad personal stuff it's nice to be venturing out to events and meeting other bloggers again :) Here's to the next!
This is such a cute collection!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with everything, it's so, so beautiful.
ReplyDeletexoxo
I did NOT know Pop was still available! I had soem stuff from there ages ago that I loved! The Tink range looks really cute packaging wise(I'm not really a big Tinkerbell fan but the drawing is gorgeous!) but whatever that huge palette with the roses on has caught my eye!
ReplyDeleteYeah I don't think TopShop sell POP nail polishes anymore, so the little PIXI boutique is the place to hit up. The packaging is just adorable :)
DeleteI went to the event, but haven't seen you, maybe you were there before or after me! I love the collectin, it's really romantic :)
ReplyDeleteOh no! It would have been so nice to meet you in person as you've been commenting on my little blog for ages! Next time eh?! I was there from about 6 on x
DeleteI haven't had the chance to try out the stuff we got properly yet, might do my face with the whole lot tomorrow. Are you coming round for Chop Chop? I'll be at my mum's the whole weekend as Mark's taking the car to stag do.
ReplyDeleteCHOP CHOP IS ONNNNN!!!

Glad you are back.
ReplyDeleteI love Disney too! Belle is my favourite princess.
xx
Aw thank you, it's nice to be back and I'm feeling inspired about make up again :) Deep as a puddle, me! Ariel is my fave cos I've gotta support the gingers ;) but I have a soft spot for Belle too, great film x
DeleteAs someone who actively dislikes tinkerbelle, I was devastated to realize the cover-"girl" on that Palette's packaging was her. with that said, what lovely spring colors! The orangey lip twist looks great!
