My Birthday: FOTD, FOTN, OOTD & Haulage!

Okay so my birthday was two weeks ago, but I'm slowing down in my old ages, so it's taken me ages to get some snaps up!

In the daytime I went for a boat ride on the lagoon in Regent's Park and then for Dim Sum in Queensway.

In the evening himself took me to see Love Never Dies at the Adelphi. It's the sequel to the Phantom of the Opera, I loved it. I wore the Eyelure Girl's Aloud Kimberly falsh lashes.

I also had a yummy Mexican meal with my lovely chums. Poor Rach got caught out! There's always one!

And I took the day after my birthday off work and headed down to Brighton as it was a lovely day! I may have gone on a crazy gambling spree *shifty eyes*... I also forgot my SPF and got a little burned :(

My mum got me Bobbi Brown's makeup book - review of this also coming soon!

And the Irregular Choice Miaow Boots I've been wanting for ages! But guess what, they've come out with a grey colour now that I fear I like slight more than the black and gold, ah well!  I haven't worn them yet but plan to with my black skinny jeans, sadly they don't really work with skirts.

The cute soles are the best part!

And himself got me this beautiful white and black diamond pendant.  He went on a hunt for black diamonds after I dragged him to SATC 2 and bored him to death about how much I loved black diamonds!  He so sweet!

So after planning to not even recognise my 26th birthday I ended up having three days of celebration! Right, I'm doing nothing for my 27th. 30 is the big one! Eeeep.

I hope any other July girls had great days too!

Also, I haven't forgotten about doing my 100 follower thank-you giveaway! I actually got the goodies for it ages ago, and hit 100 on my birthday, which was fabulous! I'll get to photograph the prizes at the weekend when I am at home during the daytime - I prefer photos in natural light!  Hopefully I'll put it up over the weekend!

  11. I'm a bit late in commenting - but looks like you had a great birthday! I'm trying to get my husband to take me to London to see that musical too, now I can tell him I've heard good things about it! x

  12. @ Nic - Thanks! It was a lot of fun!
@ Robyn - I don't even want to think about how much £ we wasted in the machines! I probably could have bough 12 stuffed Hello Kitty's for it!
@ Cydonian - Thanks, the dress was only £15 in the Next sale and the sandals are from New Look.
@ Angel - They're my favourite out of the Girl's Aloud range but I had to trim them a lot and they're quite stiff so they do poke your eye for a bit, but it also means they keep their shape all night. And thanks very much for the award!
    @ E - Thanks!
@ Musing on Beauty - Thanks! I do like the book, but I think it has some down points, I'll do a little review on it soon.
@BottledBeauty - I hope you had a great birthday! Summer birthdays are the best! My eyelashes are probably my best feature - I'm glad they're quite dark brown even though I have red hair!
    @ nicoletta - Thanks!
@ Pinkhair - I haven't had a chance to wear them yet but I don't think they'll be off me much come Autumn! IC have just come out with a lovely grey/taupey coloured pair and I wish I held out for them instead! Oh well!
    @ Hollie - Thanks!
@ Miss_ellie_uk - If you love POTO you have to see it! I've read every sequel book going and was so excited when I heard they made a sequel show! The staging and effects are fab. However I wasn't that taken with the music, but maybe it will grow on me!

  14. @Fanny - thank you! Yes these lashes were really easy to apply, I just trimmed them first as they were a bit big for my eyes. They're the Eyelure Girls Aloud Kimberly lashes.

  15. I have a question about the IC boots. Are they comfortable? True to size? Durable? My birthday is coming up and I'm thinking of telling my fiancé to get me them! :P

  16. Hey Jennie, I'm normally a 6.5 and the size 40 fits me ok. TBH I haven't worn them very much because I'm not good with heels in general. If I have to walk for more than 15 minutes in them I get searing pain on the soles of my feet, but other than that, the boots are pretty comfortable as they don't rub my feet anywhere. One drawback is that the sole is extremely stiff - no give at all, so your feet do get tired, and the balance of the boot could be better - they feel a much higher heel than they actually are...
So I'm not sure where that leaves you - they are beautiful boots, but not the most comfortable I own, but if you're generally ok with heels they should be fine. I don't regret buying them as they're so unique. If you can I would advise you to try them on first if you're near a store.

  17. Hi Kat,

    Thanks for replying so quickly!

I read somewhere that the heels are around 7cm and even though I'm a running shoe person I can walk comfortably in 7cm. You say that they feel higher than they really are so maybe it's the arch? Not your arch, the arch of the boots. Badly made, maybe?

I would really like to try them on too but I don't know of any store in Greece that carries that brand. :(

Thanks for all the info, by the way. :)

  18. I just thought of another question! Is the gold on the boot really noticeable (as in overpowering) or is it more of a gold highlight on black?

    :)

  19. Yeah 7cm is about right - I'd definitely say that for my foot the arch is a bit awkward and they definitely could be made better! In London a shoe shop called Schuh carries IC but not sure if you have them in Greece. The gold is pretty subdued - not blingin' in any way! If you love cats I'd definitely say get these boots, I just love looking at them :)

  20. I found some reviews last night and most of them said that the shoes are really comfortable so I'm hoping I'll be able to say the same too! I found a store in Athens that carries IC shoes but it's not really convenient for me to go there and they probably won't have the boot anyway.

Who doesn't love cats?! Mine is sitting on my lap as I type. <3

Okay, I think I'm going to get them after all! Thanks for all your help!

    Miaow!

  23. Got them! They're so cute and the fit is perfect. They're comfortable too and the heel height is just right. I'm so happy I got them! :D

  26. Update: I wore my boots one day and did A LOT of walking (about two hours) and my feet hurt so much! The bottom of the boot is very hard so it's tough on the feet. But no one said they were walking boots anyway!

  27. Hi Jennie - oh no! That's what I experienced too! It's so odd that you left me this comment today when it's the first day I've worn my boots in about half a year! I must get them out more! :) Kat

    ReplyDelete
  28. That is odd!

It's not that bad cause I can wear them out, it's about a 10-15 walk to get downtown and then sit in a café. So I guess one can walk in them continuously for about a half an hour. If you want to walk longer than that, well then, wear flats! As long as you know the limits, though, then the boots are fine.
