Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia Cologne

Remember that Jo Malone candle I was given before Christmas? Well I swapped it for this lovely cologne, the famed English Pear and Freesia.  I somehow forgot to include it in my favourite fresh spring scents post, but then again it does deserve a special mention all of its own.

As I got this around Christmas I was almost tempted to go for a stronger fragrance like Vanilla and Anise, but I'm so glad I picked up this one as it's delicious and grows on me more every day.   It's £34 for 30mls which is a pretty standard price for perfume and compared to the candle, which I wouldn't got as much use out of and which is £38.  Jo Malone fragrances are too good to be confined to the home - wear them out with pride!

I love spritzing it first thing in the morning and throughout the day if I need a pick-me-up, but it's very long lasting even though it's light and fruity.  It's also a rare breed of 'grown up' or 'sophisticated' fresh scents.  It's rare for pear to take centre stage in a perfume, but it's a fabulous centrepiece and offers us something a little different from all the mainstream scents out there.  The classic minimalist bottle is presented in a beautiful box which I continue to store it in for protection from evil oxidising sunlight.

Here's what Jo Malone says about it: Discover how, with a single spritz of cologne, the warmth of your skin encourages the notes of amber and patchouli to blend with the scent of just-ripe pears and delicate white freesias.

It's delicious and I recommend you give it a try next time you're at a Jo Malone store - there's one at Westfield London and she's also stocked in Selfridges.

  1. I'm desperate to go and sample JM's fragrances at the moment, as the fragrance names sound so fresh and natura,l and I'm getting a bit tried of heavy and over-fragranced perfumes x
